BW Wrestlers Lose at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team lost at Ohio Athletic Conference rival the University of Mount Union, 26-18, tonight in dual match competition in the McPherson Academic & Academic Complex. This was a match that was rescheduled from January 28.

With its loss, the Yellow Jackets drop to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in OAC duals and end a four-match winning streak.  Mount Union is 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the OAC.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was senior 133-pounder Andrew Taylor (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) who pinned Pete Hughes at the 5:42 mark.  With tonights win, Taylor improved his record to 26-14 on the season.

Also for the Brown & Gold, sophomore 165-pounder David Shapiro (Beachwood) won by a 10-4 decision over Joe Schindel.  Shapiro improves his record to 34-10 on the season.

Sophomore 285-pounder Joe Belford (Berea/St. Edward) defeated Josh Roberts in a 6-3 decision.  With tonights win, Belford improves his record to 9-6 this season.  

Sophomore 125-pounder Jesse Gunter (Akron/Coventry) won by forfeit.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Tuesday, February 18 when they end the regular season at OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center at 7:30 p.m. The 2014 NCAA Division III East Region Tournament is on March 2 at York (Pa.) College.
