MARIETTA, Ohio – For just the second time in program history, the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team shutout its opponent, defeating Marietta College 21-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Marietta Field.

The Yellow Jackets' (4-5, 1-1 OAC) only other clean sheet came back in 2017 when BW beat Wilmington College by a final score of 18-0.

Junior All-OAC attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) was the game's leading scorer with three goals and three assists for a total of six points. Senior three-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) added three goals and one assist of her own. Both senior two-time All-OAC midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) and sophomore attack Alexis O'Neill (Westlake) recorded hat tricks, tying a career best for O'Neill. Junior midfielder Savanna Jaekle (Lockport, N.Y.) tallied two goals and two assists for four points.

In the cage, sophomore goalkeeper Ashleigh Hildreth (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) registered the first shutout of her career and made seven saves in the process.

Marietta (2-8, 0-2 OAC), which is in its program's inaugural season, took 12 shots in the game, four in the first half and then doubled its total in the second half with eight.

BW's offense stepped on the gas right from the start, scoring its first goal just 43 seconds into the game. Pairs of goals from Jaekle, Albrechta, senior attack Mackenzie Moran (Carlisle, Pa.), Patrick and Martineau and junior midfielder Jordan Paugh's (South Lyon, Mich.) first goal of the season helped the Yellow Jackets build up to a 13-0 halftime score.

Coming out of the locker room, BW added another six goals with a total of eight different players getting involved in the offense. O'Neill added two of her career-high tying three goals in the half while Martineau dished out all three of her assists. Additionally, sophomore defender Christina Roskoph (Strongsville) netted her first score of the season en route to the 21-0 victory.

The Yellow Jackets return to Berea on Wednesday, April 3, to host OAC and crosstown rival John Carroll University at 7 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
