LOS ANGELES – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team concluded its spring break trip with a 12-6 loss to Occidental (Calif.) College on W.C. Patterson Field.

Senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) was the lone multi-goal scorer for the Yellow Jackets (2-3) with a pair of goals. Patrick also nabbed a game-high tying six ground balls on the defensive side.

Junior midfielder Alessandra Pelliccia netted a game-high four goals to lead Occidental (4-2). Senior attack Shai Goodman recorded two goals and two assists for a total of four points while senior midfielder Madisyn Hallare also chipped in two scores.

Almost seven minutes of scoreless action passed until the Tigers finally jumped on the scoreboard with 23:21 remaining and added another goal three minutes later. Junior All-OAC attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) found the back of the net at the 19:06 mark for the Yellow Jackets' first score. At the halfway point of the first half, sophomore defender Cassidy Prather (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) ran up the length of the field to net her first goal of the season and just the second of her career, tying the game at 2-2. Senior three-time All-OAC attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) and senior attack Mackenzie Moran (Carlisle, Pa.) then connected for BW's only lead of the game before Occidental closed out the half on a 3-0 run to head into the locker room up 5-3.

The Tigers' scoring run ended up spanning the intermission as Occidental added four more goals, building up to a 9-3 advantage with 18:15 left on the game. Sophomore midfielder Maddie Ray (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron Revere) and Patrick quickly scored on back-to-back possessions, cutting the deficit down to just four goals, but the Tigers opened the lead right back up with three additional goals in a 12 minute span. Patrick netted her second goal off a free position shot in the final seconds to finish off the night.

BW returns home on Friday, March 15, to host Allegheny (Pa.) College at 6 p.m. in non-conference action inside George Finnie Stadium.
