BEREA, Ohio- The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team's big second half fueled a 9-8 victory over non-conference foe Allegheny College (Pa.) on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW (3-3) was led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) with a team-high and game-high tying three goals, including her 100th career point with her first goal of the night. Junior All-OAC attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) and senior attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) both tallied a pair of goals.

Allegheny (2-2) was led by sophomore Evi Malagise who scored a game-high tying three goals. Senior attack Sarah Basden found the back of the net twice.

After almost seven minutes of scoreless action, Malagise found sophomore Brenna Lawler for a man-up goal for the first point of the game. The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard just a minute later after Martineau found the back of the net off an assist from junior All-OAC defender Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland) to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Maddie Ray (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron Revere) spun off her defender and rifled a shot just minutes later to tie the game at 2 with 18:59 left in the first half. The Gators then went on a 3-0 run over the next 14 minutes to make the score 5-2, highlighted by free-position goals by Basden and Malagise. The Yellow Jackets broke their cold spell with 4:39 left in the first half after Patrick scored the last goal of the first half to cut Allegheny's lead to 5-3.

The Yellow Jackets started the second half off strong, highlighted by a pair of scores by both Patrick and Martineau, to regain the lead at 8-5 with 9:40 remaining in the game. After the Yellow Jacket defense held the Gators scoreless for almost 30 straight minutes, Allegheny finally found the back of net the two times over the next two minutes to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 8-7. A goal at the 4:30 mark by Albrechta helped stopped the bleeding and extended BW's lead to 9-7. The Gators just wouldn't go away, scoring with 54 seconds remaining to make it a one possession game once game at 9-8. After turning the ball over to the Gators, the Yellow Jackets defense was able to not allow a final shot on the Gator's last possession to win the game 9-8.

The Yellow Jackets will continue non-conference action on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. when they travel to the College of Wooster at John P. Papp Stadium.
