Women’s Lacrosse Stays Perfect in OAC Standings with Victory Over Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings as it posted a 17-6 victory over Ohio Otterbein University in its regular season road finale inside Memorial Stadium.

BW (12-2, 7-0 OAC), who is the only undefeated team in the OAC, was led by sophomore attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) as she scored a game-high tying four goals and added an assist for five points.  Freshman attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) tallied a game-high tying four goals.  Junior All-OAC midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) contributed three goals and three assists for a game-high six points.  Sophomore attack Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt), who is this week's OAC Defender of the Week, and sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Moran (Carlisle, Pa.) chipped in two goals apiece. 

Otterbein (6-7, 3-3 OAC) was led by Ema Pusecker and Abby Smoot as each scored two goals.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage when Patrick scored the unassisted goal at the 24:35 mark.  The Cardinals scored their lone goal of the opening half when Pusecker found the back of the cage at 19:09.  BW scored nine unanswered goals and headed into the locker room with an 11-1 lead at the intermission.   The Yellow Jackets got their final score with just 31 seconds remaining as freshman defender Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland) netted her fourth goal of the season.  

BW opened the second half scoring when Martineau found the back of the cage at the 27:48 mark.   Otterbein responded with a 2-0 run to cut the lead down to 12-3 when Smoot scored back-to-back goals with the last coming at 16:20. The Cardinals scored their final two goals of the game to cut the lead down to 14-6 on a free position goal by Katy Williams at 4:52.   The Yellow Jackets scored the final three goals of the game and got two free positions goals from Martineau to close out the scoring with the last coming with 12 seconds remaining.

BW senior All-OAC netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) faced 17shots, allowed six goals and made seven saves for her career-high 12th victory of the season.

The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Wednesday, April 26 when they host an OAC game against three-time defending champion University of Mount Union on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

The OAC Tournament begins on Wednesday, May 3 when the top two seeds host a semifinal game.  The championship game will be contested on Saturday, May 6 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
