Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Oberlin

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 decision to Oberlin College in a non-conference game on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium.

BW (5-2) was led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) as she scored two goals.

Oberlin (6-0) was led by Hayley Drapkin and Natalie Rauchle with a game-high tying four goals.  Sydney Garvis chipped in with three goals.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets opened the scoring when freshman attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) found the back of the cage at the 28:03.  The Yeowomen responded with a 4-0 run to take a 4-1 lead on a goal by Garvis at 12:56. BW cut the lead to 4-2 on a tally by junior attack Caitlin Wheeler (Lake Mills, Wis./Oak Park-River Forest (Ill.) Wheeler at the 11:06 mark.   Oberlin got its final score of the half on an unassisted goal from Jenna Butler at 5:33. The Yellow Jacket closed out the scoring and cut the lead to 5-3 at the intermission on a goal by Miller with 1:51 remaining. 

The Yeowomen opened the second half on a 4-0 run to extend their lead 9-3 on a goal by Drapkin at the 19:51 mark.   BW cut the lead to 9-4 when Miller scored on a free position at 16:46. Oberlin closed out the game on a 5-0 run to take the 14-4 victory.

BW senior netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) faced 28 shots and allowed 14 goals with eight saves.
