Russell Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors for the Second Straight Year

Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse senior midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 7 All-District At-Large Team for the second consecutive year. Russell now is qualified for the CoSIDA Division III All-America ballot.

Russell is pre-med and chemistry double major who carries a 3.97 grade point average (GPA). She is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. Russell is also a member of the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society and the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. Earlier this week, she became the first women's lacrosse player in OAC history to earn first-team honors in all four years and was named the OAC midfielder of the Year. This season, Russell led the team in goals (38), ground balls (73), draw controls (56), caused turnovers (35) and free-positon goals (10) and was second on the team in points with 52 and tied for third in assists with 14.

For her career, Russell is the school's all-time leader in ground balls (285), points (233), draw controls (199), caused turnovers (174), goals (152) and free position goals (41). She ranks second all-time in assists with 81. Russell also was named the 2015 OAC Defensive Player of the Year.  She is first among NCAA Division III active career leaders in caused turnovers and is second in ground balls.

Russell and the Yellow Jackets finished the year with an overall record of 13-4 and finished as co-champions in the OAC regular season with a record of 7-1.  The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship game for the third time in four seasons.
