Women’s Lacrosse Wins Third Straight OAC Game with Victory Over Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team won its third straight Ohio Athletic Conference victory as it defeated Heidelberg University by a final score of 20-1 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (8-2, 3-0 OAC), who has outscored its opponents by a margin of 52-5 during the winning streak, was led by freshman attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) as she scored a career-high five goals for a career-high five points.  Senior All-OAC midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) and junior All-OAC midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) each tallied three goals while Kocher had a game-high four assists.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) and sophomore attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) contributed two goals.  Five other Yellow Jackets recorded a goal highlighted by the first collegiate goal for freshman midfielder Savana Jaekle (Lockport, N.Y.).

Heidelberg (0-7, 0-3 OAC), who is in its first season, got its lone goal from Dana Dudley.

The Yellow Jackets scored all 15 goals in the first half led by Martineau with four goals.  Albrechta, Miller and Russell each chipped in with two goals.  Junior defender Erica Eyerman (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored the final goal of the half when she found the back of the cage at the 6:19 mark. 

BW ran off the first three goals of the second half as it got tallies from freshman midfielder Jordan Paugh (South Lyon, Mich.), Miller and Kocher with the last coming at the 10:59 mark.  The Student Princes got their lone goal from Dudley at 6:06.  The Yellow Jackets closed out the scoring as it got goals from Kocher and Martineau with the last coming at the 1:49 mark.

BW senior netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) picked up her eighth win of the season as she faced six shots and allowed one goals and made four saves.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 8 when they travel to Bexley for an OAC first place showdown with Capital University inside Bernlohr Stadium at 1 p.m.  The next home game is on Friday, April 14 when the team hosts an OAC and Seniors' Day game against Ohio Northern University on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 1 p.m.
