BW Women's Golf Team Finishes Ninth at the Gannon (Pa.) Tournament

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished in ninth place out of 10 teams today (Sunday, October 5, 2008) at the two-day and 36-hole Gannon (Pa.) University Tournament at Green Meadow Golf Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The team ended the first day of action in 10th place, but jumped one spot in the second round to finish ninth on the par-72 and 5,801-yard layout.  BW was the only National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III school to compete in the tournament.  The other nine schools were all NCAA Division II institutions.

The Yellow Jackets matched their round one total in round two with 402 strokes for a total of 804 over 36 hooes.

Individually, senior No.1 player Lydia Cole (East Canton) carded a team-best 85 strokes. She was followed by freshman Ali Jones (West Muskingum) with a 102, and sophomore Sam Migalski (Monahawkin, N.J./ Southern Regional) with a 101.  Sophomore Nicole Carlone (Canton/ Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas) tied a season-best round with a 104 and freshman Caci Lewandowski (Sharon Center/ Medina Highland) tallied 114 strokes.

Following the second round of the Gannon Invitational, BW will conclude its fall season on Oct. 11-12 when it travels to Springfield, Ohio to compete in the annual Wittenberg University Fall Tournament at the Windy Knoll G.C..
