MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - For the first time in 19 years, the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team have joined the top-five vote-getters in D3hoops's final weekly edition of its national rankings.

BW appears in the national rankings for the 14th consecutive week with a season-high 497 vote points; a 78-vote point increase and four-place jump from last week's No. 9 ranking. The Yellow Jackets are the sole Ohio Athletic Conference representation to crack this week's top-25 natinal rankings, with crosstown rival John Carroll University having just received votes. BW also claims its highest national ranking since March, 2001, having garnered the No. 4 position in the 2000-01 season's final poll. It also marks the second time this season that the Yellow Jackets have leaped over at least four teams within a week, when they originally cracked the top-25 in Week 1 to claim the No. 22 spot.

The Yellow Jackets' four-place jump in the final rankings is announced rather quickly this season, as it is featured following a week of uncertainty where the NCAA Division III women's basketball season had been halted by the NCAA in its national tournament "Sweet 16" round. BW's season was still in session as it had advanced to the "Sweet 16" for the first time since the 2013-14 season, after a 67-42 first round home victory over Haverford (Pa.) College, and a thrilling 60-58 home win over the University of Chicago (Ill.) in the second round. The Yellow Jackets were anticipated to compete against No. 1 nationally-ranked and still undefeated Hope (Mich.) College in Holland, Michigan on Friday, March 13 before the NCAA's abrupt announcement to cancel of all winter and spring sports, effective immdiately, in regards to combatting the spread of COVID-19.

BW finished the 2019-20 campaign tied for its best record in program-history with a 28-2 mark, and swept both the OAC regular season and tournament titles for the first time since team 2007-08 season.
