Marshall Earns First Career OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Award

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball senior Academic-All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard/forward Kara Marshall (Copley/Akron Archbishop Hoban) has been named the OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Marshall earns her first weekly honor after leading No. 14 nationally-ranked BW to its eight consecutive double-digit victory to start the year. This past week, in the Yellow Jackets' lone game against non-conference opponent Trine (Ind.) University, Marshall scored a team-high 11 points, to go along with five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a perfect 2-2 shooting from three-point range. She is also the first BW player to earn the weekly accolade this season.

This season, Marshall is garnering career-highs in nearly every statistical category, which includes averages of 7.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.8 steals per game, as well as 47.8 percent shooting, and a team-high 44.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The three-year letterwinner was also named the Chuck Resler Tournament's Most Valuable Player in Rochester, N.Y. to open the 2019 campaign.

For her career, Marshall has appeared in 87 games and made 41 starts, accumulating averages of 5.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.5 steals per game.

BW returns to the court on Sunday, December 29 when it travels to Waverly, Iowa to compete in the Wartburg Holiday Tournament. BW will take on No. 7 nationally-ranked host team Wartburg (Iowa) University at 2:00 p.m. The tournament consolation and championship game will take place on Monday, December 30 at either 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. against a to-be-determined opponent.
