Women’s Basketball Selected to NCAA Tournament, Host of First and Second Rounds

Complete 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Bracket

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team has been selected to the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.

Earning an automatic bid to this year's national tournament after claiming its first Ohio Athletic Tournament Championship since 2015, BW will make its 15th overall appearance in program history, all coming under veteran head coach Cheri Harrer. This will be the Yellow Jackets second consecutive trip to the tournament, after receiving an at-large bid in 2019.

BW will host its first NCAA Tournament games since 2008, as it competes against Haverford (Pa.) College in its first round matchup on Friday, March 6, while also hosting the University of Chicago (Ill.) and La Roche (Pa.) College on the same date. The winners of both first round matchups will play one another in Berea once more on Saturday. Tip-off times are not available at this time but will be announced shortly.

The Yellow Jackets are one of four teams from the Great Lakes Region that will be hosting the first and second rounds, along with No. 2 Hope (Mich.) College, No. 3 DePauw (Ind.) University, and No. 15 Transylvania (Ky.) University.

This season, BW was led by senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Riley Schill (Sheffield Village/Elyria Catholic), who posted team-high averages of 11.6 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. During the regular season, the Yellow Jackets beat No. 24 nationally-ranked and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) runner-up Trine (Ind.) University at home on December 18, and fell to No. 8 nationally-ranked and American Rivers Conference (ARC) champion Wartburg (Iowa) College on December 29 on the road. Trine and Wartburg are the lone 2020 NCAA Tournament participants that have faced BW this season.

In her 30th season, all coming with the Yellow Jackets, Harrer holds a career record of 610-223 with nine OAC regular season titles and seven conference tournament championships, including five NCAA Sweet 16 and three Elite Eight appearances.
