BEREA, Ohio -- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard/forward Hannah Fecht (Hilliard/Davidson) broke the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball record for three-pointers made in a game as the No. 14 nationally-ranked Yellow Jackets defeated Otterbein University 71-53 in OAC action inside Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center.

Fecht drilled seven treys for a game-best 21 points en route to the school record, which previously stood at six-three pointers by five different players including the senior sharp-shooter. Sophomore All-OAC forward Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman) also reached double figures for the second consecutive game as she chipped in 14 points off the bench.

Senior forward Abbie Scholz and junior guard Abby Zerkle paced Otterbein (9-4, 4-2 OAC) with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Otterbein was unfazed by the task of taking down the OAC leaders and raced out to a 9-3 lead, forcing a BW timeout less than four minutes into the game. However, the Yellow Jackets were able to refocus on offense and lock down on defense as BW closed things out on a 15-0 run for an 18-9 advantage at the first quarter buzzer.

Defense was the mark of the second period as the Cardinals held the Yellow Jackets to only three points, a Fecht trey, across the first 5:21 of action. The BW defense was just as stifling, however, with the Cardinals being held to only seven total points across the same time frame. Once sophomore guard Sydney Snyder (Kirtland) found the bottom of the net for a layup at the 4:39 mark, the floodgates opened once again as the offense closed the half on a 13-0 run and BW led 34-16 at halftime.

Fecht started to heat up following the intermission, scoring the Yellow Jackets' first six points of the period. The Cardinals matched BW basket for basket until the 3:57 mark when sophomore guard Megan Hensel (Upper Sandusky) hit from deep to kickstart a 17-1 run that spanned the rest of the quarter. During that scoring blitz, Fecht nailed the final three attempts of her record-breaking trey count while freshman guard Izzy Andrews (Ann Arbor, Mich./Rudolf Steiner) also joined in the three-point action as the Yellow Jackets led 59-28 heading into the final period.

The rest of the game was marked by several small Otterbein runs as it held the advantage in the fourth quarter, outscoring BW 25-12 in the final 10 minutes. The Yellow Jackets' lead could not be surmounted, however, as BW held on for the 71-53 victory.

The Yellow Jackets remain at home on Wednesday, January 15, as BW hosts an OAC game against Ohio Northern University at 7 p.m. inside Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center.
