BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore guard Audrey Smolik (Strongsville) was namedas this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She earned her first caeer honor for leading the Yellow Jackets to wins against Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University (72-42) on February 6 and versus Marietta College (79-67) on February 9.
In the two games , Smolik scored 35 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, passed for two assists and made a steal. She scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed a game-high-tying 10 rebounds for her first career double figure scoring and rebounding game in the win versus Marietta. Smolik also had 11 points and eight caroms in the win versus John Carroll. She made 15-of-25 shots from the floor for 60 percent, including 3-of-4 three-pointers and made both of her foul shots.
Smolik currently stands second on the team in scoring at 9.0 points-per-game, grabs 4.4 rpg. and has 22 assists, 16 three-pointers and 15 steals for the 14-9 overall Yellow Jackets who have won four straight games entering a 7:30 p.m. game this Wednesday, February 13 at Heidelberg University.
This Saturday, February 16, the BW women and men host Muskingum University in a OAC and SportsTime Ohio doubleheader. The twinbill will be taped by S&S Video Productions and televised by regional cable TV network SportsTime Ohio. The women's game will air on Saturday night at 11:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17 at 4:00 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 18 at 5:00 a.m.
