BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Jessica Lairson (Louisville) is this week's OAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  This marked the was the first OAC weekly in her career.

Lairson, a neuroscience and psychology major who carries a 3.4 grade point average, earned the honor for her efforts in wins against previously No.19-ranked the University of Mount Union and at Wilmington College.  In the two games, she scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made five steals as the Yellow Jackets beat Mt. Union, 74-71, on January 30, and beat Wilmington College, 59-51, on Feb. 2.

Lairson made 8-of-13 shots from the floor for 61.5 percent, including 1-of-2 three-pointers and 9-of-13 foul shots. In the upset of the Purple Raiders, Lairson had 16 points, three rebounds, two steals, two blocked shots and an assists and made all five of her field goal attempts and 6-of-7 foul shots.

For the season, Lairson who earned All-OAC accolades a year ago and has been a member of two all-tournament teams during her career, tops the Yellow Jackets in scoring for the second straight season with 10.4 points-per-game. She also tops the squad in rebounding at 6.4 rpg., steals with 27 and blocked shots with 16.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 6 when they host OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.  BW also hosts Marietta College this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
