WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University softball designated player Maddie Lester (Boardman) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week for the first time in her career.
Lester, who also made five appearances in the circle, earns the award after leading the BW offense to a 7-5 record on its spring break trip to California last week.
She appeared in all 12 games and batted .378 (14-of-37) with a team-leading four homeruns, including a game-winning grand slam in a victory over Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) College. Lester also led the squad with an OAC leading 15 runs batted-in (RBIs.) She was also tied for the team lead and tied for third in the league with five doubles. Lester tallied three walks and two stolen bases.
In the circle, she made two four starts and won two games. Lester allowed 16 runs (15 earned) on 27 hits with 17 strikeouts and 13 walks.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, March 20 when they open the home portion of their schedule with a non-conference doubleheader against Calvin (Mich.) University on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 3 p.m.
