BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team clinched a spot in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament as it split an OAC doubleheader with Capital University inside the Clowson Field Complex.
In game one, BW (19-13, 9-5 OAC) scored six runs on a season-best tying 14 hits as it plated one run in the first, four in the second and one in the seventh. Capital (13-13, 6-10 OAC) scored three runs on seven hits as it pushed all three of its runs across the plate in the second.
At the Plate
- Sophomore shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald) went 3-for-3 with a career-best tying two doubles, run scored and walk
- Sophomore right handed pitcher Maddie Lester (Boardman) went 2-for-4 with a homerun, one run scored and a career-best tying four runs batted-in (RBIs)
- Senior Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermillion/Firelands) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI
- Sophomore left fielder Macaira Fox (Massillon/Tuslaw) went 2-for-3 with a run scored
In the Circle
- Lester won her seventh game of the season as she allowed three runs on seven hits with one strikeout and four walks in 4.2 innings pitched
- Junior righty Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) earned her career-best fourth save of the season as she did not allow a run or hit with two strikeouts in the final 2.1 innings.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored two runs on five hits as they plated one run in the fourth and sixth innings. The Comets scored six runs on 10 hits as they pushed one run across the plate in the fourth and five in the fifth.

- Senior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went with a double and a walk
In the Circle
- Hall suffered the loss as allowed six runs on 10 hits with four walks.
BW is back in action on Sunday, April 28 when it hosts a non-conference and Seniors' Day doubleheader against Oberlin College on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Friday, May 3 when they host an OAC doubleheader against crosstown rival John Carroll University at 3 p.m.
