BW Women in Fifth and Men in Sixth After Day One of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams stand  sixth after the first day of competition at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Swimming & Diving Meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.  BW is the host school.
 

The Yellow Jacket men have 85 points and are sixth of seven teams.  Ohio Northern leads  men's standings.

The BW men were led by freshman Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) who placed sixth in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 4:50.46. Burk had the fourth fastest qualifying time in prelims as he finished in 4:50.70.

In addition, junior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) finished 10th in the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 2:01.49.  Sophomore Justin Allison (Napoleon) came in ninth in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 21.51.
 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Friday, February 14 on the second day of competition at the OAC Championship Meet in Akron. The preliminary competition begins at 10 a.m. with the finals for those events contested at 6 p.m.  The final day of competition is Saturday, February 15 with the prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
