Men Swimmers Take Eighth at Fredonia State Invitational

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's aswimming team finished eighth at this weekend at the annual Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational Meet.

BW was eighth of nine teams with 196 points.

On the first day, the men were led by freshman distance freestyler Jacob Burk (Bowling Green), who placed fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 16:53.83, and sophomore Sean Allison (Napoleon), who placed eighth in the 50-yard free in 22.52 seconds. He also set a career-best with a 22.27-second timing in the preliminaries.  

On the second day, the men were again led by Burk, who placed sixth in the 500 free in 4:55.30, but swam a career-best of 4:54.40 in the prelims. In addition, junior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia) was seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best 1:01.79 and the 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Nick Mossing (Napoleon), Gerber, sophomore Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) and Allison were seventh in a season-best of 3:48.04.

On the third and final day, Burk again was the lewho placed eighth in the 400 IM in 4:31.18 and set a career-best in the prelims in 4:25.85. Also, the 400-yard free relay team of Allison, Mossing, junior Sean Rudolph Jr. (Warrensville Heights) and Onchuck were seventh in 3:31.34.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, January 4 when they swim against Transylvania (Ky.) University in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in Sarasota, Florida.
