DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams each defetaed host Defiance College in Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet competition in the George M. Smart Athletic Center.
The BW men defeated the Defiance men, 114-49, to improve to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the OAC.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket men was freshman distance freestyler Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) and sophomore Justin Allison (Napoleon). Burk and Allison each won a pair of events and swam on a winning relay team. In addition, sophomore Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./ Hinsdale South) and junior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia) each won an event and swam on a winning relay team, and junior Sean Rudolph Jr. (Warrensville Heights) swam on a pair of triumphiant relay teams.
Burk won the 1000 free in 10:37.51 and set a season-best in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.30. He was joined on the winning 200 medley relay squad by sophomore Nick Mossing (Napoleon), Gerber and Rudolph in 1:50.71.
Allison won the 50 free in 22.60 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.80 and was joined on the winning 200-yard free relay team by Rudolph, freshman Taylor Elgart (Shaker Heights) and Onchuck in 1:40.18.
The Yellow Jackets are back on Saturday, February 1, at cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University in the Veale Center at 1:00 p.m.
BW is the host school for the 2013-2014 OAC Championship Meet from February 13-15 at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
