Two BW Football Players Named CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District

BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes, senior tight end Josh Masters (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) and junior safety Zach Barley (Hudson), were selected first-team CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 and now qualify for the 2012 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America national ballot.

Masters, a business administration major who carries a 3.58 grade point average, is the starting tight end.  He a four-year varsity player who played quarterback as a freshman and sophomore and moved to tight end as a junior.  This season, Masters has a career-high 14 receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 20-yard catch and run to the endzone in 13-6 overtime victory at Muskingum University . He has 22 career catches for 224 yards and three TD's. In the classroom, Masters is a Dean's List student, a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries and a Jacket Scholar.

Barley, a neuroscience and psychology major with a 3.85 grade average, is the starting safety. He is a three-year varsity player and contributor. This season, Barley has a career-high 44 total tackles, including 21 solo stops and two tackles for loss. He also leads the Yellow Jackets with three interceptions and pass breakups with eight. Barley has 64 career tackles, including four for loss, and three pickoffs. In the classroom, he is a Dean's List student, a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries and a Jacket Scholar. He also belongs to the BW Pre-Med and Neoroscience Club.

BW, currently ranked 24th in the latest AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) Division III national poll, will take a 7-2 overall and 6-2 Ohio Athletic Conference record into its season finale this Saturday, November 10 versus No.11-ranked Heidelberg University in Tiffin at Mayer Field at 1:30 p.m.
