BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University senior football defensive tackle Max Wagner (Mentor) has been named as a second-team All-North Region player.  Wagner helped the Yellow Jackets to a 7-3 record in 2012.

Wagner, an exercise science major who carries a 3.1 grade point average, was a four-year varsity standout who helped the Yellow Jackets post a 22-8 mark as a fulltime starter the past three seasons. Earlier this fall, he received first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.  As a junior a year ago, he received honorable mention All-OAC accolades.

Individually this season, Wagner made 27 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and three quarterback sacks. He also forced a fumble and batted down a pass.  For his career, Wagner appeared in 29 games, made 93 total tackles, including 13.5 for loss and 9.5 QB sacks. He also forced three fumbles and deflected a pass.

"Max is an outstanding young man who certainly deserves every honor that he receives," said 11-year veteran Head Coach John Snell, who is 71-41 during his career. "He has great work ethic, is extremely strong and is a great leader.  We are proud of and happy for Max and his family."
