Five Yellow Jackets Garner All-OAC Football Honors

BEREA, OHIO -- Five members of the Baldwin-Wallace College football team were selected to the 2009 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. Three Yellow Jackets earned second-team honors and another two were named honorable mention.

Earning second-team All-OAC honors were senior defensive end Brandon Fast (Ashland/ Senior), junior linebacker Ryan Kish (Amherst/ Marion Steele) and sophomore safety Ryan Dugan (Mentor). Honorable mention status went to senior offensive tackle Brett Scarl (North Olmsted) and senior quarterback Anthony Gardner (Rocky River/ Lakewood St. Edward).

Fast totaled 44 tackles and tied for the team-lead with 10 tackles for loss. He also recorded three QB sacks and seven hurries.  Fast was named an ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV selection earlier this fall. 

Kish led the team with 90 tackles, including four for loss, and totaled seven QB hurries. He also totaled a team individual game-high of 21 tackles in B-W's season finale at Capital University. In three seasons, Kish has played in 26 games with 190 tackles. 

Dugan moved to safety this season after playing primarily at the cornerback position in 2008. He led the OAC with six interceptions despite missing the first two games of the season due to injury. Dugan also recorded 49 tackles and six pass break-ups. 

Gardner earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive season. The 2009 captain completed 62.3 percent (444-of-746) of his passes for 1,773 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 370 yards and three scores on 91 carries. For his four-year career, Gardner threw for 5,258 yards and 34 TD while also rushing for 828 yards and another 10 TD.

Scarl makes his second straight appearance on the all-conference team after earning second-team honors in 2008. This season, he started all 10 games at left tackle for an offense that ranked third in the OAC at 200.5 rushing yards per game. For his career, the 2009 team captain played in 30 games and made 25 starts.
