Three Yellow Jackets Named to OCF Preseason All-Ohio Football Teams

BEREA, OHIO -- Three Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets have been named to the Ohio College Football.com 2009 Preseason All-Ohio Division III Team. Senior offensive tackle Brett Scarl (North Olmsted)is a first-team selection, junior running back Kyrell Crook (Columbus/ St. Francis DeSales) is a second-teamer and senior quarterback Anthony Gardner (Rocky River/ Lakewood St. Edward) was noted as a player to watch.

Scarl, a 2009 team captain, earned second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors last season after starting all 10 games at left tackle. Crook led the Yellow Jackets in rushing with 711 yards and six touchdowns and caught 15 passes for 314 yards and a score. Gardner, a 2009 team captain, was an honorable-mention All-OAC pick in 2008 after ranking second in the conference  in both passing (231.8 ypg.) and total yards (245.9 ypg.). Gardner also completed 63.8 percent of his passes, threw for 14 touchdowns and ran for five more .

The Yellow Jackets open the 2009 season on Saturday, September 5 when they host Heartland Athletic Conference powerhouse and 2008 NCAA Division III playoffs participant Franklin (Ind.) College at 1:30 p.m. on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
