Three Football Student-Athletes Named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas- The National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame has recognized three Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes as members of the 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.

Senior quarterback  John Kromalic (Copley), senior linebacker Sean Nischwitz (Clinton/Green) and senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference offensive lineman Andrew Sierawski (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) all received honors. To be recognized, student-athletes must be a graduating senior with a cumulative grade point average above 3.2 and have made significant contributions to their program. In total, 1,271 student-athletes through all three Divisions were honored.

Kromalic, a history major, carried a 3.2 GPA and was a Dean's List student. This season, he appeared in all 10 games and scored his first career varsity touchdown at Defiance on September 2. The senior completed 9 of 12 passes for 76 yards with a long of 14 yards.

Nischwitz studied biology and complied a cumulative GPA of 3.24. He was named team captain for the 2017 season where he finished third on the team with 63 tackles, including a career-high 35 solo stops. The linebacker tied for fourth on the team with a career-high tying two quarterback sacks and registered a career-best two forced fumbles. For his career, Nischwitz appeared in 32 games and earned three varsity letters. He tallied 172 career tackles, four sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

An education and mathematics double major, Sierawski earned a 3.54 GPA while being a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. This year, the senior received the BW Dick Van Almen Outstanding Offensive Lineman award and was a NFF Scholar-Athlete Award-winner. The 2017 season marked his third straight year starting, which lead to 31 career starts for the Jackets. In total, Sierawski was a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, a three-year letterman in football and a three-year letterwinner on the BW wrestling team.

BW finished the 2017 season tied for fifth in the OAC with an overall record of 6-4 and a conference mark of 5-4.  The Yellow Jackets will open up the 2018 season on Thursday, August 31 when they will host Alma (Mich.) College in their only non-conference game of the year on the Tressel Field inside Finnie Stadium at 6 p.m. BW will open up 2018 OAC action with back-to-back home games against Otterbein University and the University of Mount Union on September 8 and 15.
