Today's Contest: 
Today is second road game of the 2017 season for the Baldwin Wallace football.  The Yellow Jackets travel to Alliance for their first road Ohio Athletic Conference game against No. 2-nationally ranked the University of Mount Union.  BW dropped its OAC opener against crosstown rival John Carroll University by a final score of 24-21 in the 29th Battle for Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy. Mount Union cruised to its second straight victory as it defeated Marietta College in its OAC opener by a score of 69-3.

The Series: 
BW and Mount Union have met 55 tims on the gridiron.  The Purple Raiders lead the all-time series by a margin of 33-21-1, inlcuding winning the last 22 contests. The series began in 1896 as the Yellow Jackets posted a 10-0 victory in Alliance.  The last BW win came in 1994 when it knocked off Mount Union by a final score of 23-10 in Alliance.  

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert: 
Hilvert is in his first season at BW. He is 68-20 in nine overall overall and is 0-0 against Mount Union. 

MTU Head Coach Vince Kehres: 
Kehres is in his fifth season at Mount Union with a 57-4 record. He is 4-0 vs. Baldwin Wallace.

Last Game vs. MTU -- September 24, 2016:
BW scored seven points 198 yards passing, minus 10 yards rushing and 188 total yards.  Mount Union scored 49 points on 374 yards rushing, 131 yards passing and 505 total yards. Graduated wide out Bryon Cook (Tallmadge)was named the BW Dick Miller Player of the Game.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets:
In week two of the season, BW scored 21 points on 189 yards passing, 151 yards rushing and 340 total yards.  John Carroll scored 24 points on 222 yards passing, 148 yards rushing and 370 total yards.   Junior wide reciever Rob Wolfington (Rapids City, Mich./Elk Rapids) was named the Dick Miller Player of the Game.

BW Leaders: 
Offensively, junior quarterback Jake Hudson (East Lake, Fla.) has completed 18 of 39 passes for 297 yards and two TDs.  Junior All-OAC running back Austin Smith (Broadview Heights/North Royalton) leads the rushing attack with 129 yards on 26 carries with two TDs.   Junior wide out Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y./Willamsville North) leads the receiving corps with six catches for 85 yards and two TDs.  Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Sam Groff (Waynesburg/Sandy Valley) tops the squad with 14 tackles.  Senior linebacker Sean Nischwitz (Clinton/Green) is second with 12 stops and is tied for second with one sack.

Scouting the Purple Raiders:
In week two of the season, Mount Union scored 69 points on 286 passing yards,241 rushing yards and 527 total yards. Marietta scored three points on 156 passing yards, 121 rushing yards and 277 total yards. 

Mount Union Leaders: 
Offensively, sophomore quarterback D'Angelo Fulford has completed 28 of 39 passes for 488 yards and eight TDs.  Freshman running back Josh Pettruccelli leads the ground attack with 125 yards on 14 carries with two TDs. Sophomore wide receiver Justin Hill lead the receiving corps with eight receptions for 164 yards and four TDs.   Defensively, junior linebacker Danny Robinson tops the team with 13 tackles. Junior defensive back Austin White is second with 10 stops.
