Carbone and O'Brien Named Capital One Academic All-District

BEREA, Ohio --  Baldwin Wallace University football standout student-athletes Addison Carbone (Hudson) and Dan O'Brien (Warren/Howland) have been named to the 2014 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 team.  Both student-athletes now qualify for the national CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America ballot.

Carbone, a senior defensive tackle, is a repeat member of the Academic All-District squad, and O'Brien, a senior outside linebacker, is making his first appearance on the team.  The duo have helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 5-4 overall and 4-4 Ohio Athletic Conference mark this season.

Carbone, who carries a 3.612 grade point average in business and finace, is a Yellow Jacket team captain, a two-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 choice, appeared on last year's national Academic All-America ballot and is a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athlete.

Carbone has 30 tackles this season and 97 during his career. The three-year starter on the defensive line is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. Carbone has helped BW to a 26-13 slate during his career. He also wrestled for one season and has served as a training partner during two other seasons. In addition to his exploits on the field, Carbone has served as a student broadcaster at campus radio station WBWC.88.3 FM, and as a public address announcer for various varsity sports, including basketball, baseball lacrosse, soccer and wrestling.

O'Brien, who carries a 3.803 grade average in neuroscience and biology,  is a team captain and leads the Yellow Jackets with 67 tackles and has 147 career stops. The All-OAC and Academic All-OAC student-athlete, is a two-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week and this year's Dick Miller Family & Community Day Player of the Game versus Bluffton University.

In addition to his football exploits, O'Brien is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies.

BW ends its season this Saturday, November 15 when it travels to Tiffin to play Heidelberg University at Mayer Field at 1:30 p.m.
