Women's Volleyball Takes Two of Three at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) Invitational

TERRA HAUTE, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team won two of its three non-conference matches at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind. Invitational inside Hulbert Arena.

BW (6-7) opened the invitational with a three-set sweep of the University of Olivet (Mich.) on Friday night by scores of 27-25, 25-17, and 25-14. On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets fell to Rose-Hulman in four sets by scores of 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 20-25, and then swept Anderson (Ind.) University by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-15.

vs. Olivet (8-8)

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference setter Olivia Zawadzki (Hilliard/Darby) led the team in assists with 34
  • Junior outside hitter Sam Rueda (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) recorded 17 kills while junior outside hitter Sydney Simonson (Sullivan/Black River) added 10 kills
  • Senior All-OAC libero Lauren Gardner (Avon/Saint Joseph Academy) and sophomore defensive specialist Jamie Snell (Strongsville) tallied 17 digs and 12 digs respectively
  • Zawadzki and Rueda each added nine digs

vs. Rose-Hulman (10-6)

  • Gardner led the defense with a season-high 26 digs
  • Junior Academic All-OAC right-side hitter Allison Weiner (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) led the team with a season-high 17 kills
  • Rueda totaled 16 kills and 20 digs

vs. Anderson (6-8)

  • Senior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) finished with a hitting percentage of .429
  • Rueda and Simonson each recorded 11 kills
  • Gardner added 12 more digs giving her a total of 55 on the weekend
  • Snell tallied three service aces
  • Zawadzki had 19 assists while sophomore setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) added 16 assists

BW is back in action on Tuesday, September 26 when it travels to Gambier to take on Kenyon College in a non-conference matchup in Tomsich Arena inside the Lowry Center at 6 p.m.
