Women’s Volleyball Stays Hot With Win Over Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team swept Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Heidelberg University in Seiberling Gymnasium for its fourth straight conference win. 

BW Leaders (11-10, 4-2 OAC)

  • Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill./North) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills while adding four assists
  • Senior middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) grabbed her team-leading 13th solo block and her 36th total block of the season
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference libero Lauren Gardner (Avon/Saint Joseph Academy) recorded 24 digs
  • Junior outside hitter Sam Rueda (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) continues to dominate with 15 kills, two aces, and six digs while hitting .324 on the night
  • Senior All-OAC setter Olivia Zawadzki (Hilliard/Darby) tallied 26 assists and eight digs

Heidelberg Leaders (14-12, 2-4 OAC)

  • Freshman setter Maddie Reed assisted 17 times
  • Senior defensive specialist Nicole Thomas led the defense with 11 digs
  • Senior middle hitter Anamya Truex and junior right side hitter Grace Porter each had three block assissts

  • BW led in kills 18-11
  • Yellow Jackets hit .196
  • Student Princes hit .189

Second Set (BW 25-17)

  • BW led in kills 18-9
  • Yellow Jackets hit .424
  • Student Princes hit .183

Third Set (BW 25-13)

  • BW led in kills 16-6
  • Yellow Jackets hit .313
  • Student Princes hit .091

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, October 21 when they host an Ohio Athletic Conference and Seniors' Day match against Otterbein University in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 1 p.m.
