Women’s Volleyball Takes Down Wilmington in Straight Sets

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team swept and Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader in straight sets over Wilmington College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (9-5, 9-5 OAC) won the first set by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-15.  The Yellow Jackets completed their third season sweep by taking the second match by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-17.

Match 1
The BW offensive attack was led by junior outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.), who is this week's OAC Offensive Player of the Week, as she recorded a match-high 13 kills.  Junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) followed with 10 kills. Senior All-OAC setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) put the offense in motion with a match-best 21 assists. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) controlled the back line with a match-high 17 digs.

Match 2
The Yellow Jacket offense was sparked by the tandem of Stebel and Earl with 14 and nine digs, respectively.  Egan once again set up the offense with a match-best 25 assists.  Reinhard controlled the defensive unit with a match-high 18 digs.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 6 when it travels to Alliance for an OAC doubleheader against the University of Mount Union in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Center at 6 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets closes out the 2021 regular season when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Marietta College at 6 p.m.

The OAC Spring Tournament is set to begin on Tuesday, April 13 with quarterfinal action. The semifinals are slated for Thursday, April 15 on the campuses of the highest remaining seeds.   The championship will be contested on Saturday, April 17 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
