Women’s Volleyball Closes out Spring Regular Season, Sweeps Marietta

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team closed out the regular season portion of its spring schedule as it swept an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Marietta College in in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (13-5, 13-5 OAC) , who has won seven straight matches, took the first match in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 26-24 and 25-21.  The Yellow Jackets completed the sweep by taking the second match in four sets by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-21.  Marietta (6-10, 6-10 OAC) has now lost nine straight matches in the series. 

Match 1
The BW offensive unit was led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) with a match-high 14 kills.   Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) knocked down 13 kills.   Senior All-OAC setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) set up the attack with a match-best 33 assist and anchored the back line with a team-high 14 digs.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) tallied 11 digs and junior defensive specialist Isabella Moskowitz (Brighton, Mich.) added 10.  

Match 2
Earl led the Yellow Jacket attack as he hammered down a career-high 22 kills.  Garrett followed and junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) each putdown 15 kills.   Egan ran the offense with a season-best 53 assists.  Reinhard and Egan controlled the defense with 16 and 11 digs, respectively. 

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 13 when it hosts an OAC Tournament quarterfinals game at 7 p.m.  The semifinals will be played on Thursday, April 15 on the campuses of the highest remaining seeds at 7 p.m.  The championship match will be contested on Saturday, April 17 on the campus of the highest remaining seed at 2 p.m.
