Women’s Volleyball Drops OAC Doubleheader to Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio –  The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader to Ohio Northern University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

Ohio Northern (4-0, 4-0 OAC) won the first match by scores of 25=21, 25-20 and 25-13.  The Polar Bears captured the second match in five sets by scores of

Match 1
The BW (2-2, 2-2 OAC) offense attack was led by junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) as she recorded a match-high 11 kills.  Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) contributed eight kills.  Senior All-OAC setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) set up the offense with 25 assists. Senior academic All-OAC libero/defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) and Egan anchored the defense with 11 digs apiece.

Match 2
Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) led the attack with 16 kills. Stebel tallied 13 kills. Senior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Kail Nicholas (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) and sophomore middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) each recorded nine kills.  Egan and Earl added eight kills apiece. Egan ran the offense with a match-high 47 assists.  Reinhard led the defensive unit with 19 digs.  Egan tallied 13 digs and a career-high eight blocks. Junior Academic All-OAC defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) and Earl contributed 11 digs.  Nicholas also recorded six blocks.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, March 19 when they travel to Westerville for an OAC doubleheader against Otterbein University in the Rike Center at 6 p.m. BW returns to the friendly confines of the Ursprung Gymnasium on Tuesday, March 23 when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Heidelberg University at 6 p.m.
