Volleyball Team Falls Twice on Day One of Mount St. Joseph Fall Classic in Cincinnati

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team, 3-14 overall, fell twice on the first (Saturday, September 26, 2009) of the two-day College of Mount Saint Joseph Fall Classic in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets lost 3-1 to Bluffton and 3-0 to host Mt. St. Joseph.

B-W lost to Bluffton by scores of 15-25, 19-25, 25-23, 14-25. Sophomore Nicole Schoen (Bellevue) totaled a team-high eight kills and freshman setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/North) led the way with 21 set assists. Defensively, freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland/ Senior) recorded 21 digs.

B-W lost to Mt. St. Joseph 14-25, 15-25, 16-25. Freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/Central Catholic) led the B-W offense with seven kills and junior Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) totaled a team-best 25 assists. Defensively, Emmons posted 16 digs.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow for day two of the Fall Classic and will play Hanover (Ind.) at 12:30 p.m. and Otterbein at 4:30 p.m. B-W opens Ohio Athletic Conference play next weekend with a 3:00 p.m. match at rival Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.
