Volleyball Team Drops a Pair on Day One of Kalamazoo Hornet Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this evening (Saturday, September 5) on the first of the two-day Kalamazoo (Mich.) College Hornet Invitational. B-W dropped its opener, 3-2, to Franklin College (Ind.) and fell to Centre (Ky.) in its second match, 3-0.

The Yellow Jackets took the first two sets from Franklin but were unable to hold on, losing 25-22, 25-21, 12-25, 22-25 and 12-15.  Freshman Becky Palivoda (Burton/Cornerstone Christian Academy) led the attack with 13 kills and junior Abby Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) added 12. In addition, junior Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) totaled 34 set assists. Defensively, freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland) led the Jackets with 19 digs.

Versus Centre, the Yellow Jackets lost 25-27, 15-25 and 20-25. Thompson totaled eight kills, Passen had 17 assists and 12 digs, and Emmons posted 12 digs.
