Yellow Jacket Volleyball Team Drops a Pair on Day One of Salisbury (Md.) Tournament

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on day one (Friday, September 18, 2009) of the Salisbury University Seagull Classic in Salisbury, Maryland. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 to Hanover (Pa.) College and 3-1 to Allegheny (Pa.) College.

The Yellow Jackets lost to Haverford 14-25, 22-25, 25-20, 10-25. Offensively, B-W was led by junior Abbey Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) with 10 kills and sophomore Chelsea Nissen(Williston/ Genoa) with eight. Junior Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) recorded 16 assists and 10 digs, freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/ Central Catholic) had a team-high 15 digs, and freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland/ Senior) totaled 13 digs.

The Yellow Jackets lost to Allegheny 15-25, 17-25, 25-23, 17-25. Nissen led the offense with a team-best 12 kills, Passen totaled 20 assists, and Emmons recorded 14 digs. Gbur also totaled 11 digs and three service aces.

B-W closes out the weekend tomorrow versus Richard Stockton (N.J.) and Salisbury at noon and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
