Volleyball Team Rallies to Defeat Muskingum University, 3-2, in New Concord

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team rallied from two sets down to win 3-2 at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum University tonight (Saturday, October 24, 2009) in New Concord. 

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-23 overall and 1-6 in the OAC and snap an 18-match losing streak. Muskingum University falls to 10-13 and 2-5 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Muskingum by scores of 13-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-12.

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior Abbey Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) with 15 kills and sophomore Chelsea Nissen (Williston/ Genoa) totaled 12 kills. Freshman setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) had 27 assists. Freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/ Central Catholic) totaled five service aces.

Defensively, Gbur led the team with 36 digs and Nissen had 23 digs and freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland/Senior) also totaled 21 digs. Freshman Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Parma Heights Holy Name) had a team high four blocks.

B-W is back in action this Tuesday, October 27 as it hosts nationally-ranked Ohio Northern University at 7:00 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
