Women's Indoor Track and Field Finishes Fourth at Mid-February Open

BEREA, Ohio – In its second home meet of the season, the Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed in the Mid-February Open on the Harrison Dillard Track, inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

BW placed fourth out of 15 participating teams, earning 61.5 total points. Meanwhile, California University of Pennsylvania claimed the team title with 157 points.

The Yellow Jackets' best performances in this evening's meet came in the field. They were led by seniors Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve), who both won one event apiece. Roberts claimed first-place in the shot put with a mark of 42' 4.75", and Buckhannon earned the victory in the weight throw with a distance of 53' 9.75". Meanwhile, junior Abby Lewicki (Medina/Highland) garnered a second-place finish in the pole vault event with a mark of 10' 6". Roberts' score in the shot put event placed her in national qualifying contention amongst NCAA Division III's top 20 indoor performances in 2020.

On the track. BW got another first-place finish from junior Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover), who competed in the 500-meter run event for the first time in her collegiate career. She scored a final mark of 1:19.61.

In relay action, the foursome of junior Ky'leana Allen (Columbus/Bishop Hartley), sophomore Heather Guiley (Louisville), and freshmen Jenna Sirianni (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and Oksana Novotny (Smithville/Wooster) united to win the 4x200-meter event, with a final time of 1:57.96.

BW returns to action on Saturday, February 15, when it travels to Westerville to compete in the All-Ohio Indoor Championships, hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center at noon.
