Women’s Swimming and Diving Fourth After Day One of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team is in fourth place after the first full day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW is fourth of six teams with 144 points.  Defending champion John Carroll University is in first place with 282 points.

Individuals

  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) earned her sixth career All-OAC honor as she was the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 2:10.83
  • Sophomore freestyler Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was ninth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:29.91
  • Senior Academic All-OAC stroker Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was 12th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.34

Relays

  • The 200-yard freestyle squad of Dondorfer, sophomore freestyler Emily Kusar (Perry), Fibbi and L. Slife took fifth in a time of 1:43.98
  • The 400-yard medley team of Dondorfer, senior All-OAC stroker Tia Reed (Bluffton), freshman freestyler Melina Roberts (Westlake) and sophomore freestyler Ariel Lisy (Strongsville) earned All-OAC honors as they were the runner-up in a time of 4:06.25
  • The 800-yard freestyle unit of senior stroker Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside), freshman stroker Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), Fibbi and Lisy finished fourth in a time of 8:22.29

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, February 16 when it competes on the second day of the OAC Championships. Preliminary action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with finals to be contested at 6 p.m.
