Women’s Swimming and Diving Defeats NCAA Division II Malone

CANTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team defeated NCAA Division II Malone University in a non-conference dual meet by a final score of 114-76 inside the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

BW (4-0) is now 2-0 against NCAA Division II opponents.  Malone (1-1) is dropped its first meet of the seaso 

Individuals

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.47
  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:18.09 and was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:36.54
  • Freshman stroker Lainey McDaniels (Cuyahoga Falls) was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.63 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:09.75
  • Senior stroker Jami Melzer (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch) was second in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 20:37.90
  • Junior stroker Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) was second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.12
  • Senior stoker Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:00.99
  • Freshman stroker Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:09.73

Relays

  • The 200-medley relay squad of Ashley Slife, Reed, Dondorfer and Pantoja won in a time of 1:59.90
  • The 200-yard freestyle unit of Lauren Slife, senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kate Wells (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), McDaniels and sophomore stroker Aril Lisy (Strongsville) won in a time of 1:52.61

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 4 when they travel to Delaware for a non-conference tri-meet against Heidelberg University and Ohio Wesleyan University inside the Meek Center at 1 p.m.
