Women’s Swimming and Diving Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory, Defeats NCAA Division II Notre Dame

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University wommen's swimming and diving team won its second straight dual meet as it defeated NCAA Division II Notre Dame College in a non-conference dual meet by a final score of 138-61 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (2-0) won eight of 11 individual events and captured both relays.   Notre Dame won three individual events.

Individuals

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.33 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.81
  • Sophomore freestyler Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), who is this week's OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week, won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:54.92 and was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:00.46
  • Freshman diver Isabel Hershkovitz (Strongsville) won the 1-meter five-dive event with 136.05 points and the 1-meter
  • Senior All-OAC stroker Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of
  • Freshman stroker Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:11.84
  • Freshman diver Ella Steen (Madison/Painesville Riverside) won the 1-meter and six-dive event with 164 points
  • Senior stroker Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.04
  • Junior freestyler Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.92

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley team of Ashley Slife, Reed, Dondorfer and Lauren Slife won in a time of 1:58.96
  • The 200-yard freestyle unit of Pantoja, Fibbi, freshman stroker Lainey McDaniels (Cuyahoga Falls) and senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kate Wells (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) won in a time of 1:54.35

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 28 when they travel to Fredonia, New York for a non-conference dual meet against Fredonia University in the Steele Hall Natatorium at 1 p.m.
