Women's Swimming and Diving Competes on Annual Winter Break Training Trip in a Unscored Match Up

SARASOTA, FLA. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team had a non-scoring match up against Randolph-Macon College in Sarasota, Florida inside the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex during its annual winter break training trip.

BW (9-1) won 2 of the 7 events.


The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
Junior All-OAC performer Julia Newbould (Strongsville) took second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.36 seconds.
Freshman Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) placed fourth in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 29.24 seconds.
Freshman Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.94 and the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:04.11 and placed second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30 seconds and placed third in the 50-yard breaststroke.

BW relays were highlighted by:
The 200-yard freestyle team of Newbould, Dondorfer, sophomore Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), and freshman Jena Parks (Geneva / Madison) placed second in a time of 1:46.90.
The 200-yard Medley Relay unit of Dondorfer , Sophomore Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.), Pantoja, and Newbould placed third in a time of 1:59.63.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, January 14 when they host Wooster College in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 6 p.m.
