Women's Swimming and Diving Sit in Fourth Place After Day One at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio -  The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team stand in fourth place on the first day of the OAC Championships hosted by Mount Union at University of Akron inside Ocasek Natatorium.

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.14.
  • Freshman All-OAC Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:11.29.
  • Junior All-OAC performer Julia Newbould (Strongsville) placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.08 seconds.

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The All-Ohio 400-yard medley relay of Dondorfer, Reed,Newbould, and Ratino placed second in a time of 4:03.69.
  • The 200-yard freestyle squad of Newbould, sophomore Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), sophomore Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.), and freshmen Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) placed fourth in a time of 1:43.34.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow for day two of the OAC Championships at University of Akron inside Ocasek Natatorium. Preliminary action begins each day at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
