Women's Swimming and Diving Falls in Conference Match Up Against John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team drops a conference match up against John Carroll University in the Timken Natatorium inside Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

BW (9-3) won 7 of the 14 events, had 7 runner-up finishers as it falls to John Carroll by a final score of 185-108.

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:17.27 and won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:32.83.
Freshmen Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:35.41.
Junior All-OAC performer Julia Newbould (Strongsville) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.39 seconds and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 57.49 seconds and won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.20.
Sophomore Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.99 and won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:33.00.
Freshman Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:15.66 and placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.35 and won the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:04.21.
Junior Aubrey Syron (Dayton/Archbishop Alter) placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:09.78.

BW relays were highlighted by:
The 200-yard medley relay unit of Dondorfer, Reed, sophomore Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), and Newbould took third in a time of 1:58.80.
The 200-yard freestyle team of Slife, senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Emily Newcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills), Pantoja and Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Kayla McClintock placed second in a time of 1:49.41.

BW closes out the home portion of its schedule on Friday, January 28 when it hosts Ohio Northern University on Seniors' Day in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 6 p.m.
