Women's Swimming and Diving Finished 3rd at Oberlin College Invitational

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the three-day Oberlin College Invitational in the Carr Pool inside the Philips Physical Education Center.

BW was third of 9 teams with 929 points. Host Oberlin College was the champion with 1,258.5 points. 


The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:11.74 and won in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:57.83. Ratino also won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:31.38.

Sophomore Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.46 and finished sixth in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.97.

Junior All-OAC performer Julia Newbould (Strongsville) placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.11 and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.31.

Freshmen Jena Parks (Geneva / Madison) placed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.83.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township) took fourth in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 5:00.96. 


BW relays were highlighted by:

The 200-yard medley unit of Freshmen Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor), Reed, sophomore Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), and Newbould finished sixth in a time of 1:54.43.

The 200-yard freestyle team of Parks, Slife, Reed, and Newbould placed fifth in a time of 1:44.15.

The 400-yard medley relay group of Dondorfer, Reed, Parks and Newbould placed third in a time of 4:08.53. 

The 800-yard freestyle unit of Ratino, McClintock, freshmen Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula / Lakeside) and Dondorfer touched the wall first in a time of 8:06.40. 

The 400-yard freestyle relay of Dondorfer, Ratino, Slife and Newbould finished first in a time of 3:45.52


The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, December 4th as it hosts Bethany College and Hiram College for a non-conference meet at BW Natatorium inside Lou Higgins Rec Center.
