Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to Mount Union in Conference Matchup

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team lost conference matchup against Mount Union University in the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

BW (7-1) won four events, had four runner-up finishers as it fell to Mount Union by a 148-83 score.

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Freshman Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2.01.89 and won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:01.99.
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:28.90 and second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:20.99.
  • Sophomore Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.67 and finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:25.10.
  • Junior All-OAC performer Julia Newbould (Strongsville) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 57.03 seconds and third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.14.
  • Junior Aubrey Syron (Dayton/Archbishop Alter) finished third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:06.59.
  • Freshman diver Claire Fischer (Cincinnati/Mercy McAuley) finished second from the 1-meter board with a final score of 108.65.

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 200-yard medley unit of Dondorfer, Reed, freshmen Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside), and Newbould finished second in a time of 1:56.41.
  • The 200-yard freestyle team of freshman Jena Parks (Geneva/Madison), Ratino, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township), and sophomore Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) placed third in a time of 1:48.83.


The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, November 13th - 20th as it travels to Oberlin for a three day non-conference meet against Oberlin College in the Carr Pool.
