AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Senior All-OAC diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), senior Shari Gordnier (Centerville/Dayton Regional Stem), senior All-OAC stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township), senior All-OAC stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and sophomore freestyler Madeleine Pierce (Perry) are five of the 26 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this winter.
Clymer, who is claims her third Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major that carries a 3.65 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. In the pool, Clymer is the 2020 OAC Champion in thr 1-meter diving event and is a member of the school-record 400-yard medley relay team
Gordnier, who garners her second Academic All-OAC accolade, is a national security major that carries a 3.98 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. In the pool, Gordnier set one carere-best this season and three as a sophomore.
Kural, who earns her second Academic All-OAC honor, is a public and nonprofit management major that carries a 3.88 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Kural is the 2020 OAC Champion in the 100-yard butterfly and owns three additional All-OAC honors. She is a member of the school-record 400-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay teams.
Nockengost, who garners her second Academic All-OAC accolade, is a music education major who carries a 3.60 grade point average. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, she is a two-time OAC champion in the 100-yard butterfly and owns an additional five All-OAC honors. Nockengost is a member of the school-record 200-yard freestyle, the 400-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley and and 800-yard freestyle relay teams.
Pierce, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a sustainability major that carries a 3.52 grade point average. She is a Dean's List student. In the pool, Pierce is a three-time All-OAC performer and is a meber of the school-record 200-yard freestyle relay team.
