Women's Swimming and Diving Corals Buffalo State (N.Y.)

SARASOTA, FLA.  – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team defeated Buffalo State University by a final score of 148-31 at the Arlington Park Aquatic Center during its annual winter break training trip.

BW (5-2) was led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC performer Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and junior Academic All-OAC stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) as the duo each won an event and tied each other for another victory.

Nockengost won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.86 and tied in the 100-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 1:06.22.  Kural captured the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.19 and tied in the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:06.22

Also earning victories were senior Academic All-OAC performer Ellie Clymer (Independence), senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele), sophomore stroker Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and freshman stroker Julia Newbould (Strongsville).

Clymer won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.23.  Thorson was the champion in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.97.  McClintock touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best tying time of 1:8.93.  Newbould was the winner in the 50-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 26.35 seconds.

In addition, freshman stroker Natalie Kehoe (Parma/Padua Franciscan) was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.38.

In relay action,  the 200-yard freestyle team of Newbould, McClintock, sophomore stroker Emily Newcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and senior Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.) took first in a season-best time of 1:51.62.   The 200-medley squad of sophomore All-OAC performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken), Clymer, Kural and Nockengost finished first in a season-best time of 2:00.48.
