Women's Swimming and Diving Prevails in Dual Against Penn State-Behrend

ERIE, Pennsylvania – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team was victorious against Pennsylvania State University at Behrend in a non-conference dual meet in the Junker Center Pool.

BW (4-2) defeated Penn State-Behrend by a final score of 139-80.

Seven Yellow Jackets led the way in this afternoon's meet, as each of them had won an individual event. Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference swimmer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a final time of 11:17.29. Freshman stroker Julia Newbould (Strongsville) finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.74. Senior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) won the 400-yard individual medley in 5:07.61. Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly, with a time of 2:21.86. Senior Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle, completing the race in 1:00.74. Sophomore Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) garnered a win in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:25.57. Senior Academic All-OAC swimmer Ellie Clymer (Independence) also won the one-meter diving event with a score of 178.85.

Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC performer Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:07.46. Ratino and Clymer also earned runner-up finishes in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, with times of 5:35.39 and 2:48.55, respectively.

In relay action, BW also earned wins in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle. BW's medley participants of Ratino, ClymerKural, and Newbould combined for a first place finish and a final time of 1:58.65. The Yellow Jackets' freestyle participants of Nockengost, Thorson, McClintock, and Ball also earned a victory with a 1:48.70 finish.

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Friday, November 22, when they travel to nearby Oberlin to compete against Oberlin College in a non-conference dual meet in Carr Pool at 6:00 p.m.
