WHEATON, Ill. – The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and sixth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team finished in fourth place at the annual Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College inside the King Arena. 

BW, who was fourth of 35 teams, was led by senior All-OAC 125-pounder Chris Doyle (Akron/Green) and sophomore 133-pounder Dante Ginnetti (Poland/Seminary) and senior 285-pounder Gabe Mahaney (Green) as all finished as runner-ups.  Doyle, who is ranked ninth nationally, won a 16-1 technical fall in the opening round, won by pinfall in 2:15, earned a 5-0 and 6-2 decision victories and fell in the championship match.  Ginnetti won a 19-0 technical fall in the opening round, won by pinfall in 6:28, earned a 12-4 major decision, won by pinfall in 4:10 and fell in the championship match.  Mahaney received a bye in the first round, won by pinfall in 4:04, earned decision wins of 8-4 and 4-2, won by medical forfeit and fell in the championship match.

Finishing in fifth place were junior 174-pounder Justin Ransom (Madison) and junior All-OAC 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC 197-pounder Tyler Maclellan (Medina/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy).  Ransom opened the invitational with a pinfall in 4:43, won a 7-3 decision before suffering his first loss.  He then won a 12-3 major decision, a 4-3 decision, suffered his second loss and won a 6-5 decision. Lehman won his first-round match by pinfall in 2:10, picked up a 13-5 major decision, earned a 6-2 decision, suffered a loss and won a 6-3 decision. Maclellan opened the invitational with a pinfall in 4:35, earned decisions victories by scores of 5-1 and 3-1, suffered a loss and won by medical forfeit 

Finishing eighth was freshman 149-pounder Michael Carpenter (Middleburg Heights/St. Edward) and junior All-OAC 157-pounder Benjamin Hoof (Worthington/Thomas Worthington).  Carpenter won his first two matches by decisions of 3-2 and 9-3 before suffering his first loss.  He then won a 14-11 decision before suffering losses in his final two matches.  Hoof won his first match with an 11-5 decision before suffering his first loss.  He then won his next three matches by decisions of 5-2, 10-4 and 5-2 before suffering losses in his final two matches. 

The Yellow Jackets return to OAC action on Tuesday, January 30 when they travel to New Concord for a match against Muskingum University on Performance Court at 7:30 p.m.

BW hosts the 32nd annual John Summa Memorial Tournament on Saturday, February 3 inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
