Six Wrestling Student-Athletes Garner Academic All-OAC Accolades

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Six Baldwin Wallace University wrestling student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior All-OAC 197-pounder Tyler Maclellan (Medina/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), sophomore All-OAC 133-pounder Dante Ginnetti (Poland/Seminary), sophomore 141-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk), sophomore Nicholas Berry (Laura/Dayton Carroll), sophomore Nick Sbrocco (Perry) and freshman Patrick Simon (Olmsted Falls) are six of the 24 winter student-athletes to be named to the team.

Maclellan, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.59 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies. Athletically, he is a four-time All-OAC selection and a two-time NCAA Division III National Tournament qualifier. This season, he has a 29-10 record with four pins and two technical falls. In his career, Maclellan has compiled a mark of 95-46, which is tied for eighth-most wins in school history.

Ginnetti, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is an accounting major who carries a 3.98 GPA. A Dean's List student, he was named to the All-OAC first team, an All-Central Region selection and is a qualifier to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Tournament. This season, he led the team with 35 wins and 18 pins. In just two years, Ginnetti has a 59-18 record with 30 pins and five technical falls.

Nash, who was selected to his first Academic All-OAC team, is an economics major who carries a 3.61 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He is also a 2018 NCAA Division III All-Central Region selection and a National Tournament qualifier. This season, Nash has compiled a 26-12 record with nine pins and two technical falls and has 52 wins for his career. 

Berry, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a computer science major who carries a 3.87 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American. This season, he recorded 17 wins including nine pins and three technical falls. For his career, Berry has a 36-14 record with 17 pins. 

Sbrocco, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a finance major who carries a 3.93 GPA. A Dean's List student, Sbrocco earned 10 wins this season with one pin and has a career record of 16-19 with one technical fall. 

With the academic standing of a sophomore, Simon, who has been selected to his first Academic All-OAC team. He is an economics major with a 3.53 GPA, a Dean's List student and a letterwinner on the BW football team. In his first season on the wrestling team, Simon recorded eight wins with four pins.
